Game Drives

Game drives at Londolozi are taken by professional, passionate and knowledgeable rangers and trackers, who amongst them have a wealth of 350 years of experience. With over 15 000 hectares of traversing wilderness, no two game drives are ever the same. Trackers sit up at the front of the Land Rover looking for fresh animal tracks, while rangers drive with astonishing skill into ravines and through thicket in pursuit of elusive animals, simultaneously wowing guests with their outstanding knowledge and unforgettable stories.

Tracking

The ancient art of tracking has been uniquely preserved at Londolozi. The combined wisdom of the Londolozi tracking team spans over 200 years of tracking experience. Guests, during winter, are privileged to be able to witness this ancient art. On foot in search of the big cats, as well as Rhino and Buffalo…downwind…in silence…not moving a muscle and in very close proximity, is an experience which demands all your attention and which leaves you with indelible memories. Winter is the perfect time to pursue Africa’s most alluring wildlife; whilst in the presence of a master tracker applying an ancient art, miles from any Land Rover.

The Cubs Den

Londolozi's children programme is uniquely tailored for each child, many of whom are budding junior game rangers. The lodge's approach is based on a personal interaction with each child and is energetic and flexible. They regard nature as the great educator and with no set routines allow the child to discover the world of the outdoor classroom which surrounds them. Nature sets the agenda and they enable these young people to discover something of themselves.

Birding

The birdlife at Londolozi represents a magic of diversity in perpetual motion and offers the visitor an entirely new frontier in wilderness engagement. A wide array of sunbirds seeking nectar from the flowering aloes is winter’s gift to the discerning birder, not to mention the other 450 species which abound in these landscapes. Many fine ornithologist guides reside at Londolozi.

Londolozi Healing House

The Londolozi Healing House experience will help you to combine the core safari excursions with artful resting, curated bodywork and yoga in the surrounds of the expansive wilderness presence of Londolozi. The lodge has crafted some special activities for true rejuvenation, restoration and transformation. Working with trained Wellness Practitioners, Therapists and Wilderness Guides, we invite you to commune with the African wilderness and to find within you a sense of wellbeing. In the hurried world of today, true luxury is time to oneself in search of self-healing and connection to nature. The Londolozi Healing House is a place where time will allow for intangible magic, stillness and contemplation to stir deep within you.

Campfires - Storytelling

Campfires, storytelling, red wine and good company are the hallmark of any winter safari. Coming from a long line of storytellers, Londolozi’s history is steeped in the tradition of campfire yarns told late into the night. In each of the 5 exclusive camps you can hear the whispers of our ancestors and embodied in our history, are the legends and myths of the mysteries and adventures of safari. Each camp has its own spirit and each has its own campfire which awaits you.

Location

The lodge is situated on the Sand River in the very heart of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. This reserve forms part of the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park, a growing area that currently covers six million acres and incorporates the famous Kruger National Park. Wild animals move freely across this vast space, offering spectacular game viewing and a true wilderness experience. Breeding herds of elephant and buffalo roam throughout Londolozi, while white rhino and lion concentrations are among the highest recorded on the African continent. Yet it’s the leopards of Londolozi that make Sabi Sands world famous for wildlife, and lie at the heart of the Londolozi feeling. Over the course of more than four decades, a unique relationship has developed between Londolozi's rangers and trackers and generations of wild leopards. Intimate leopard sightings are frequent here, an experience that guests agree is a pinnacle life experience.
